Mifflinburg is proud of its German heritage. The Borough holds an annual Oktoberfest and Christkindl Market. Having attended the Oktoberfest several times, I can personally vouch for its authenticity. There are several German beers on tap, keg throwing and mug holding competitions, German bands under a big tent and lots of fun for kids too.
Back to architecture, skilled German carpenters left their mark on the tiny borough of Mifflinburg. The embellished soffits, decorative corbels and bracketry visible throughout the downtown and residential neighborhoods are simply marvelous, especially for a community of less than 4,000 residents.
